I think this tutorial is more precise to how elliot plays it. much longer and I already know the other version.

  on his channel there is also a cover of the song, but it sounds a bit different. the strumming has the 2 16th note pause similar to the other tutorial, and on 2nd measures plays base sequences. This way, it is difficult to be precise with the thumb that is strumming and playing base notes at the same time. and then add singing is super difficult.

to ease the thumb you can do all the strumming with the index finger but I haven't gotten the technique completely down yet.
